Road Construction in Mascoutah

George Street Reconstruction Project – construction expected to start October 23rd

George Street will be reconstructed between Market Street and Maple Street. New concrete gutters will be constructed and the existing oil and chip pavement will be replaced with asphalt pavement on new rock base. New concrete driveway aprons will be constructed throughout and new concrete sidewalks will be constructed on the north side of the street.

Portions of George Street will be closed to traffic during normal working hours and opened at the end of the day provided construction activities allow for safe operation of two-way traffic. Access to driveways will be blocked at times while concrete gutter, sidewalks, and driveway aprons are under construction. Access to all side streets will be maintained to minimize inconvenience to the public as much as possible. Please plan to park your vehicle on adjacent streets or lots during these temporary road closures. The City plans to reopen these streets as soon as the asphalt paving is completed. Construction should be completed in approximately three months. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience during this construction activity.
