Press Release - Public Safety Agency Training Exercise

St. Clair, Illinois, July 2019 – The St. Louis Regional Complex Coordinated Terrorist Attack (CCTA) in conjunction with the Mascoutah Public School District, Mascoutah Police Department, Mascoutah EMS, Mascoutah Fire Department, the St. Clair County Sherriff’s Department, Illinois State Police District 11, MedStar Ambulance, and the Scott Air Force Base, 375th will be conducting two response drills at the Scott Elementary School in Mascoutah, Illinois on Thursday, August 1st and Friday, August 2nd from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The St. Louis Regional CCTA Program is a campaign of preparedness activities intended to strengthen regional collaboration between two states, eight counties, and more than 200 municipalities. The upcoming drills are in coordination with multiple Federal, state, city, county, and local agencies and jurisdictions.

Employees from Scott Elementary, local law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies along with personnel from Scott Air Force Base will be participating in these response drills. The drills will occur before the school year begins to help prepare the school and local emergency response community for an active threat situation. There will be no live firearms or ammunitions, and no blanks or shots of any kind will be heard by the surrounding community. Personnel will arrive in their emergency response vehicles (i.e. fire truck/engines, ambulances, and police vehicles), and responders will be fully uniformed.
