News Release - New Parking Regulations on Park Drive

The City of Mascoutah will be implementing new parking regulations on Park Drive.  These new parking regulations will ensure that ball field access is ADA accessible per Illinois state statute and also accessible by emergency vehicles.

There will be no parking on Park Drive on the north side 335 feet between Field 4 (3rd base) and Field 5 (1st base) and on the south side 335 feet between Field 2 (1st base) and Field 3 (3rd base).  The no parking in these areas will ensure proper line of sight for the crosswalk between the two sides of Park Drive for access to the fields and concession stand.  This week permanent no parking signs will be placed and a new crosswalk will be painted.

We are aware of the concerns voiced by residents regarding the safety of everyone, especially children, during ball games/practices and other events and with crossing Park Drive.  We ask that everyone driving on Park Drive to drive the posted speed limit of 15mph and use extra caution during the ball season and special events.  Also, when crossing Park Drive between fields and to access the concession stand, please use the striped crosswalk and remind children to look both ways before crossing.

Safety is the City’s first priority and we believe these new changes will improve the safety and accessibility of the ball fields for all involved.  If there are any additional questions or concerns, please contact the City Manager’s office at (618) 566-2964 x501.
