How to Start Utility Services

City of Mascoutah services include electric, water, and sewer. 

The following items will be needed to start your service.  Please allow at least one business day before you would like service to begin.

  • Copy of rental agreement, contract for deed agreement, or purchase agreement
  • Driver’s license or valid photo identification
  • $5.00 non-refundable fee for Occupancy Permit
  • Security deposits are required for rentals or contract for deed purchases.  
    • Electric – Residential $150.00, Commercial $250.00
    • Water - $20.00
    • Sewer - $25.00
  • Complete New Service Application (Online Application)
  • Mascoutah Municipal Occupancy Inspection

Payment of deposits/Occupancy Permit can be made over the phone at 618.566.2964 x 502 or checks/money orders can be placed in our drop box located in the alleyway on the west side of City Hall.

How to Stop Utility Service

If you are planning to move, remember to stop your City of Mascoutah utilities account.  Notify Utility Billing with the date you want your services stopped and your new mailing address.  You can submit an online request or contact us by calling (618) 566-2964 x 502 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  This will ensure that your final bill is processed correctly and that your account will be closed.  The final utility bill will be calculated from the last meter reading at the time the services are disconnected. 

If you do not contact the Utility Billing office of move out date, you could be responsible for paying the utility bills at your old address until a new account is initiated by a new resident or owner.

If you are leaving for a long period of time and want your electric and/or water service disconnected, please contact us at (618) 566-2964 x 502. 

Please call us to schedule an appointment to have services restored.  Someone should be home at the time to prevent any overflow in case a faucet or other water device has been accidentally left on inside.  Reconnect fees will apply, $25.00 per service (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.)
