Public Information Review and Comment Period Scheduled by the City of Mascoutah For Improvement of L&N Railway Trail and Trailhead.
The City of Mascoutah will conduct a Public Information Review and Comment Period regarding the proposed shared use trail from IL Rt. 4 to South 10th Street. This review and comment meeting will be held at City Hall (3 W. Main Street, Mascoutah, IL 62258) on November 8, 2023 at 6:00 PM. All persons interested in the project are invited to view the information and provide public comment. Representatives from the City and Design Engineer will respond to any questions that are submitted.
Information that is being provided will include topics such as the design being considered, right-of-way needs, and the tentative construction schedule. Preliminary drawings, renderings and aerial photography will be available for viewing.
Background
The City received federal funds for the L&N Railway Trail and Trailhead through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP). ITEP is a federally funded program of surface transportation improvements designed to support non-motorized transportation. ITEP funds are solicited and awarded on a competitive basis. Because federal funds are being used, a public review and comment period is necessary for compliance with National Environmental Polic ACT (NEPA) requirements and the Illinois Department of Transportation’s public involvement policy.
