COVID-19 Update: Governor's Executive Order, Shelter in Place, April 1, 2020

The Governor’s Stay at Home order has now been extended until April 30th. The City of Mascoutah would like to encourage each citizen to stay home if at all possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you must go out, please practice social distancing, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently, and always remember to cover your cough or sneeze by using a tissue or the inside of your elbow. The executive order does provide the police department authority to disperse groups not practicing social distancing.
City Hall will continue to be closed to the public until further notice. Staff is available to conduct business over the phone and electronically during the normal hours of Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
While our walking paths and open spaces are still available to those properly practicing social distancing, the executive order from the governor does include the closure of our playgrounds and playground equipment, ball fields, park buildings including restrooms, and the dog park until the shelter in place order is lifted.
St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency is broadcasting live on their Facebook page and Youtube at approximately 3:30 p.m. every day to provide critical updates to the community.

Governor's Executive Order, Shelter in Place, March 20, 2020
Today, March 20, 2020, Governor JB Pritzker ordered Illinois residents to ‘stay at home.’ The Governor’s Executive Order is available below. The order is effective at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020, through the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, which currently extends through Tuesday, April 7, 2020.
The order requires all individuals currently living in the State of Illinois to stay at home or their place of residence. Individuals may only leave their residence to perform essential activities. Under the order, “essential activities” are: for health and safety; for necessary supplies and services; for outdoor activity; for certain types of work; and, to take care of others.
Mascoutah City Hall will remain closed to the public, but will have staff on site to continue conducting business over the phone and electronically between the normal hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Please see the March 16th Public Notice regarding how to conduct City business during this time (available here).
The order provides that all non-essential business and operations must cease. “Essential Businesses and Operations” that may continue include: stores that sell groceries; food production and agriculture; organizations that provide charitable and social services; media; gas stations and businesses needed for transportation; financial institutions; hardware and supply stores; critical trades; mail, post, shipping, logistics and delivery services; educational institutions (for the purposes of facilitating distance learning); laundry services; restaurants for off-premises consumption; supplies to work from home; supplies for essential businesses and operations; transportation; home-based care and services; residential facilities and shelters; professional services; day care centers for employees exempted by this order; manufacturing, distribution and supply chain for critical products and industries; critical labor union functions; hotels and motels; and, funeral services.
Essential businesses and operations are mandated to take proactive measures in maintaining social distancing. These measures may include, where possible: designating six-foot distance; providing hand sanitizer and sanitizing products; separating operating hours for vulnerable populations; and, providing online and remote access for employees.
