Fire Department cont.

The Mascoutah Fire Department operates one fire station, built in 1976 and located near downtown. From this fire station the department operates five pieces of apparatus including three Rescue Pumpers, one Squad/Rescue Truck, and one Brush Truck. We have several mutual aid agreements in place that can bring in additional apparatus as needed including ladder trucks and tankers. These agreements also allow the department to provide assistance to surrounding communities.

The Mascoutah Fire Department consists of 43 volunteers inlcuding a Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, 5 Captains, 5 Lieutenants, and 30 Firefighters. The department responds to an average of 200 calls during the year. In 2014 our actual number of calls was 211 calls. Of these calls, 141 were within the city limits while 70 were in the surrounding district. The average number of Firefighters per call is 17.

We are dispatched on emergency calls by St. Clair County 911 dispatching. Department members are alerted to calls by pagers. Chief Officers report directly to the incident scene while the remainder of the department report to the station to respond with apparatus.
